This set of 2 kitchen wall shelves will add a rustic appeal to any kitchen while offering off the bench storage solutions for small kitchens. Whether you are looking for the convenience of a sturdy shelf set or to add a touch of eye appeal to your kitchen, these wood wall shelves can do the trick.
Rustic Paulownia Wood Shelves
Paulownia wood is the fastest growing hardwood and is widely used in furniture throughout Japan because of the speed it grows at, almost 7' per year. However the use of Paulownia Wood in the United States is quite rare and as a result of this, gives you a unique set of kitchen wall shelves.
What makes the Paulownia wood a great candidate for wood kitchen shelves is the fact it is considerably lightweight for a hardwood. But because it is a hardwood, you still benefit from the strength and durability of the wood.
This twin pack of kitchen shelves has a combined weight of just 4.7 LB, making them the ideal lightweight shelves without sacrificing a lot of strength in the foundation.
Complementing the rustic appeal of the Paulownia Wood nicely are two uniquely shaped black iron support brackets. While the iron is primarily used to give the shelves the strength and support needed, they add a certain amount of industrial appeal to the shelves. The Paulownia Wood and the iron brackets work well together to give you unique looking wall shelves for the kitchen.
Not Exactly Floating Shelves
Some may argue that these wall shelves are floating shelves for the kitchen. But as the shelves are held up on the wall via external screws rather than a built-in support system, I have to disagree.
However, the screws you hang the shelves on the wall with, are hidden and out of sight. They are located behind the brace so the shelves can appear to look like floating shelves, which is a nice touch.
Super Easy To Mount To The Wall
Hanging these wall shelves couldn't be easier. All you have to do is position the shelf where you want them in your kitchen, using a pencil mark the two holes on the wall. Next, drill a couple of screws into these marks and leave a small gap between the screw head and the wall to hang the shelves from.
These shelves were designed to enhance the visual aspect of your kitchen while also practical in their design. That is, they are not so huge that they become an eyesore, yet not so small they are impractical to use.
Each shelf measures 16.5" wide allowing you plenty of space to store your condiments, wine glasses, recipe books, vases, and decor.
Where these shelves prove their worth is in their depth. They are quite deep and not your normal small and shallow wall shelf. Each shelf has a depth of 11.8" giving you that space needed to store bulkier items like a pot plant that would normally be too large for a small shelf.
The total height of the shelves including the iron bracket is 7.28". The two end brackets also allow you to lay small recipe books or the likes against them. However, you do lose some of the visual appeal when you cover up part of the main attraction with books.
